An Enduring Impact: Reflecting on the Saint Zacharia Scouts’ 2024 Education Drive

Today marks two years since a pivotal moment of community service at the Cibitoke Catholic Parish. On February 6, 2024, the Scout Movement of the Saint Zacharia Group (Groupe Saint Zacharie) came together to assist the most vulnerable members in their communities.

Education is a journey that requires the right tools. In early 2024, the Scouts ensured that disadvantaged children in the parish did not have to embark on this journey empty-handed.

Solidarity and Impact

This initiative was made possible in large part due to local and international solidarity. The Australian Charity for Burundi (ACB) provided a generous contribution which had a profound impact on the ground.

In the local context, this contribution was transformative, enabling the purchase of approximately 100 textbooks. These books became crucial resources for students who otherwise would have gone without essential learning materials.

Sincere Appreciation

The leadership of the Saint Zacharia Group viewed this not just as a donation, but as a partnership in building a better future.

“Supporting these children was about more than just pencils and paper; it was about showing them that their community—and friends abroad—believe in their future,” remarked St Zacharie Scouts Group’s representative.
